Anyone dedicated to living a positive lifestyle would be telling you a lie if they said they don’t experience challenge. It’s misleading to think that living with a positive attitude will keep you away from challenge… it won’t.
Life itself is challenging at times… even grueling.
Successful entrepreneurs, parents, athletes, coaches (feel free to insert any field you admire here) are not void of challenge. In fact, the most stand-out successful people I know have also dealt with some of the toughest experiences…including massive setbacks, tragedy and more. Perhaps the challenge itself propelled them to success...certainly something to consider as you read on.
Here it comes… the quintessential quote, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s learning to dance in the rain.” —Unknown (By the way this quote fixes nothing unless you really get what it means).
“…dancing in the rain” doesn’t mean “I’m avoiding what’s happening at all cost…see my plastered smile…I’m busy dancing… tweedle-e-dee….”
Dancing means…get BUSY using the challenge for your greatest good…NO MATTER WHAT THE CHALLENGE IS…No exceptions.
That’s right… NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you handle the challenge right you’ll come away with 3 gifts you won't want to return, exchange, nor re-gift to anyone else... It's all for you.
Ask yourself, what is it about the challenge that you really don’t like. Get super real with this because the extreme opposite of what you don’t like is exactly what you want. When you know exactly what you want you can move in the direction of obtaining it and away from the oppressive nature of challenge.
For example, if you’re dealing with illness….then it’s likely that health is what you desire. What are you doing to get there?
If you’re unhappy at work, underpaid, overloaded with bills…then more financial freedom is likely what you want. What are you doing to get there?
Answers won’t be found by disconnecting yourself from the world enthralled in video games, hours of television, smart phone, and emotional overeating. Answers wont be found switching from job to job to job just to get away from one person or aspect of your work you dislike. Sure, you’re moving away from the challenge at hand…but moving in the wrong direction and possibly (actually...most likely) making the challenge even greater.
If this is you…how’s that working for you?
By examining challenge and then finding direction to what you really want you'll switch from running AWAY to running TOWARD what you want. Big difference.
Taking action toward what you want…welcomes the path for more inspiration which naturally brings you CLARITY.
Direction and clarity work elegantly together. Without looking challenge square in the eye you’re only avoiding, suppressing and “dancing” in a way that only prolongs the stress that comes with challenge.
Embrace and examine your challenge and you’ll be dancing in sync with the Universe and for your greatest good.
Small and consistent action toward what you want is enough and a perfect example of what living life positive and authentic is about and you'll welcome more inspiration and clarity to get you there.
Finally… when you’re in action and moving in the direction you’re wanting to go, you’ll discover personal GROWTH in a way that can never be taught from school books. Challenge brings about an array of emotions from anger, disappointment to stress and worry. Growth is the knowingness and awareness behind those emotions. What is the root of it all? When you know this, then you can make good decisions for YOU going forward.
Having a successful life (in all areas of life) isn’t necessarily about overcoming your challenge…it’s who you become during the journey.
