The journey of the entrepreneur is often times a very lonely one. The mere fact that you have chosen the entrepreneurial path in itself means that you are “different”, unlike 97% of people on the planet. So, connecting with those other 97% in such a way as to get them on the same sheet of music with you can be challenging at best.
Here are 3 ways (along with a fourth as a Bonus) that will have you connecting with others, AND have them investing in your cause or business in no time. (And yes, I mean investing both monetarily as well as of themselves and their time and efforts.)
1. Put Others First- It’s very difficult for any of us to “whole heartedly” get behind someone or their cause or mission if we feel that’s it’s just a self-serving vehicle for that person. In order to connect with others as an entrepreneur, you have to have a sincere value that you express in everything you do that tells, and shows, others that your motives are pure. You must be able to fully express to them that the bottom line reason that you feel called to do what you’re doing is that you have a genuine desire to leave others in a much better situation than they would have ever been in had they not met you, or become involved with your product or service.
2. Be Raw, Real and Authentic- Though people want to see those whom they follow on a bit of a pedestal, they ALSO want to be able to identify with them as being real. They want to be able to connect with you, in many ways, as being“just a little more evolved” version of themselves, ie: “someone like them who got their ______ together”. In order to really connect with you, they want to see you as someone they could be if they just tried harder or applied themselves more.
3. You Must Have a Vision That Inspires- In order for people to connect with you on a deep level and choose to follow you, you must have a vision that they can engage with for their own reasons. The vision has to move them to want to dedicate their time, resources and efforts in a way that has them moving beyond your reasons to be involved and instead is big enough and engaging enough for them to become involved for their own reasons. They must decide that they are so onboard with the vision that you’ve inspired them with that they would move forward to do what they could to make it a reality whether you were involved or not.
4. BONUS- (Or what we call in the South, “One To Grow On”) Walk Your Talk- Don’t just talk a good game. Talk, Demonstrate and LIVE a good game. Inspire others to become involved with you, your business or your entrepreneurial life purpose by authentically living it in front of them every single day.
So there you have it! Four great ways to connect with, inspire and engage others to have them become more involved in your entrepreneurial journey, where they can add massive momentum to your efforts as well as your entrepreneurial purpose. I hope you’ll put these into action beginning TODAY!
