As we enter into another new year, there is an excitement looming for what the next year will bring. It is also a time of reflection. What were the unexpected surprises, both positive and challenging, that punctuated the time of your life over the past 12 months?
What life lessons were learned that you will now carry forward into this next new year?
Did you accomplish what you set out to do on January 1st of last year? Only you know if you were successful, by your own personal standards, or if you’re “still in the process” of doing what you set out to do.
Realize that success in anything you determine in your heart to do is a process, a journey. It is a complete fantasy that we’ve been told that one day we “arrive” and we can stop growing, becoming more. For as long as we live, we will either be growing or dying, moving forward or falling behind. There is no such thing as stagnation in any of life.
Assuming that you are someone who desires to continue to move forward in your progress in this new year, especially since you’re reading this, what will you do differently to assure your growth?
In order to have more, to achieve more, to experience more, you must become more.
I know that you’re saying to yourself as you read this, “John, I already know this.”
To that thought, I respond, “There is a key difference in knowing the path, and walking the path.”
It really doesn’t matter what you know. It’s what you do that counts. For what you do is what produces results. And your results never lie.
Your business, your income, and your life can only grow to the extent that you grow. It all starts and ends with you. For your life to get better, you must get better. For those key areas of your life, health and business to grow, you must grow. You are the root of your success.
At this time of year, people prepare a laundry list of things they intend to accomplish in the new year and then go on to accomplish very few, if any, of the goals on their list.
I must ask you a very hard and pointed question. “How many more times are you going to quit on something you said you were going to do?” I assure you that I ask this question of you for no other reason than that I only desire for you to reach your full potential. I also want to make it clear that this is the very same question that I have asked the one who stares back at me in the mirror, so I know first hand of it’s power to cut through the excuses.
Instead of preparing your “laundry list” this year, I have a recommendation for you that may help to increase your focus, AND your results, for what you want to accomplish over the next 12 months.
Ask yourself, “What one goal, if I accomplished it, would have the most positive ripple effect and simultaneously impact the other areas of my life the most?”
Identify the one goal that would literally have the biggest, most positive impact on your life, a real game changer. Then set about creating a plan of massive, focused, outcome driven action to achieve that one goal.
Remember and live by the F.O.C.U.S. acronym: Follow One Course Until Successful. Give this all of your attention and effort over the next year and reap the benefits. And let me know how this works for YOU!
Until next time…
